The Cebu Retiree Write to us

Privacy Policy

The Cebu Retiree · ceburetiree.com

In plain English: We collect information when you choose to give it to us — mainly through our contact form. We use it to reply to you and, once you book one of our services, to deliver the service. We never sell personal data. Our first-party analytics record an action and a page, not your name, email, or message.

Who we are

The Cebu Retiree publishes educational information and arranges Scout Day, Soft Landing and Soft Landing Plus, arrival services for people considering retirement in Cebu, Philippines. This policy covers ceburetiree.com, our emails, and the contact form.

What we collect, and why

  • Contact form. Name, email, and which reply channel you prefer (email, a call, or WhatsApp). Optionally: a phone number and the best time to call, your rough timeline, a message, and, if you came from the free check, your answers as ranges (for example, an income band or a timeline). We use this to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to prepare the service.
  • The free check. The six questions on /check run in your browser. Nothing is sent to us unless you go on to submit the contact form — the result itself is not recorded anywhere.
  • Service information. Once you book a service, we collect what is needed to do the work: travel dates, housing preferences, document checklists, and contact details.
  • Support messages. We keep what you send us so we can answer and keep a record of what was agreed.
  • Basic analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and performance without setting analytics cookies or collecting personal data.
  • Optional journey analytics. If you choose “Allow anonymous analytics,” our first-party endpoint records a random browser ID, a random tab-session ID, page path, broad source category, button actions, scroll milestones, coarse click position, and time spent on page sections. It is designed not to receive email addresses, names, payment details, check answers, typed text, or form contents. We do not record or replay your screen.

Browser storage and your privacy choices

We use a small amount of browser storage for features you request, such as remembering your check result, your privacy choice, or whether you have already seen the consultant tip. These are not advertising profiles.

Individual journey analytics are on by default, and you can switch them off at any time through Privacy choices in the footer. If you are visiting from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland we ask first instead, and nothing is stored until you allow it. Either way the decision is yours and it is never buried: choosing Essential only stops future journey events and removes the analytics identifiers from that browser.

While journey analytics are on, cr_visitor keeps a random identifier for up to 90 days; cr_session, cr_source, and cr_seq last only for the current browser tab. The preference itself is remembered for up to 180 days so we do not ask again on every visit.

The cost calculator

Nothing you type into the calculator is sent anywhere while you use it, and no result is withheld until you identify yourself. When you leave the page, and only if you changed one of the figures, we record what you ended on — rounded into $250 bands, never the exact amount — together with whether you chose alone or as a couple, modestly or comfortably. No identifier is attached, so those rows cannot be tied back to you or to anything else you did on the site.

Your last figures are also kept in your own browser so that, if you go on to write to us, they can travel with that message. That copy never leaves your browser unless you send it yourself, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Our server log

Separately from anything stored in your browser, our server keeps an ordinary request log: the page requested, the country and network your request came from, the site that referred you, your browser’s user-agent line, and the response code. Every web server keeps a log like this, nothing is written to your device for it, and we use it to tell real readers apart from automated traffic.

Cloudflare Analytics Engine keeps both the journey events and the server log for up to three months. We use them only to produce website statistics and improve the site, never to target advertising and never to make decisions about a particular visitor.

Human notifications

When you submit the contact form, it is sent to the operator by email (through Resend) and by Telegram, so a real person can reply — within hours, not days. You also receive an automatic acknowledgement email confirming we got it. These notifications are for internal operations, not a public group or advertising audience.

The consultant chat

The chat on this site (“Sam”) is an AI assistant that answers for our team. What you type there is stored with us (on Cloudflare) and sent to Anthropic, the company whose AI writes the replies, so it can answer you. Each new conversation is also sent to the operator on Telegram, so a person can read it and step in. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the chat is used by a person, not a bot. Do not put payment details in the chat; we never ask for them there.

Providers we use

  • Cloudflare — hosts the site, runs our contact form and other Pages Functions, and provides analytics.
  • Resend — sends the acknowledgement email and the lead notification to the operator.
  • Telegram — delivers a private copy of each contact form submission and each new chat to the operator.
  • Anthropic — the AI that writes the chat’s and our assistant’s email replies.
  • Wise — sends and processes the payment requests for our services: the Scout Day fee, the deposit and the second payment.

Each provider processes information under its own privacy and security terms. We share only what is reasonably needed for that provider’s job.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data, rent email lists, or add people to unrelated marketing. We do not store full payment-card numbers — we do not process card payments on this site at all. We do not use our first-party analytics endpoint to record form answers or personally identifying text.

Retention and location

We operate from the Philippines and use providers that process data in other countries, including the United States and Europe. We keep information while it is needed to deliver the requested service, support a client, meet accounting or legal requirements, or maintain reasonable business records. We delete or anonymize it when it is no longer needed where practical.

Your choices

  • Email us to ask what personal information we hold, or to request correction or deletion, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • You can browse the whole site — including the map and the free check — without giving us an email.

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
